What is the proper role of a Precinct Delegate?

Precinct Deleates are elected every 2 years during the August Primary in each of the two major parties.

Their offical role is to represent their voting precinct which typically consists of their neighborhood (700-1200 residents).

During party conventions, delegates will help shape the platform of the party, elect party leadership at the state, district and county level, and nominate certain roles in public office such as state judicial nominees, Secretary of State, Attorney General and School Board candidates in each of their respective party’s.

However, the delegate can do so much more, they can walk their precinct and get to know their residents to be the voice of the poeple to the policial party, as well as the voice of the party to the people.

Delegates can inform their residents of elections, candidates, local issues. They build and strong email list and effect change locally. They can attend local municiple meetings and help hold elected officals accountable, and help replace bad leaders with good leaders, people who will adhere to the rule of law.

Typically about January every two years (even years), you can fill out what is known as an Affidavit of Identity at your local clerks office, notorize it and file with the County by a perset date (usually in April). Your name will appear on the August primary and people in your precicnt can vote for you to represent them. The term of the deleate is 2 years.
