Understanding the flaws of Progressivism

The progressive model Rashida Tlaib follows is nothing new. Throughout American history, so-called “progressives” have worked to infuse their ideology into Constitutional governance.

Progressives believe that the way to create the greatest amount of good is to focus on the good of the community above the success of you, the individual.

Progressives reject the founder’s goal of achieving both the success of the citizen and the good of society. They reject the notion that the reason of the community should govern, instead of the will of the people.

Here in lies the flaw, as society advances and problems become more complex from ever increasing bureaucracies, legislators are more challenged to manage the complexities. They instead work to increase the role of administrators to carry out their policies expressed in their vision statements. (examples of “vision statements’, The Fair Deal, The Great Society, The Green New Deal ect.)

But while progressives seek to bind the government closer to the people, as the power and influence of their administrators becomes more dominate, they create a bureaucracy that is far removed from the accountability of the people.

The real legislative power is now transferred from the elected legislator to the unelected administrators.

Bureaucrats, special interests and progressive legislators create and push public opinion often through propaganda—So the “will of the people” is now compromised and corrupted.
Power and control over the people in the name of the good of society results in the society devolving into totalitarian regimes such as socialism, communism and fascism—all of it is on full display today.

The question the public should ask is, how do progressive policies ultimately affect me, my job, my family, and my savings?

The antidote to this deeply flawed thinking can be found in the message of freedom.
